I'm not sure how many times I have read this, or how many backpacking trips I have carried it on. It simply cannot be compared to any other piece of English Literature. Stimulating, erotic, challenging, hopeful yet complex in its understanding and interpretation of not only the world but our place in it. It's a classic, which means it is just as valid today as it was a million years before Whitman put pen to paper.
